Batu Rakit Beach (Pantai Batu Rakit)
Situated about 30km from Kuala Terengganu or 15km from Merang in the north, Batu Rakit beach is another picture perfect beach in Terengganu. Lush tropical forest and colorful fishing boats scattered around the unspoilt shores of this beach adds serenity to this beach.
Catch fishermen coming home in their boats in the evenings bringing home fresh fishes. Scattered about around the beach are fishing villages and food stalls selling keropok lekor, satar, otak-otak, fried bananas (pisang goreng) and local delicacies.
Try out the fried seafood dipped in flour (goreng celup tepung), there are many to choose, from fish, prawns, squids, crab, stringrays and varieties of seafood balls. They're simply heavenly especially when you dip them in the special chilli sauce and have them with cool and refreshing coconut water.
Batu Rakit is also famous for fried keow teow with squid and chicken. The food stall opposite the mosque along the main road is highly recommended.
Don't forget to catch the next issue of Terengganu travels for more useful information and main attractions on Terengganu. Until we meet again, have a lovely weekend.
